As I was doing my devotions this morning, I was reading a passage that I have read many times before. In fact, it's a passage that is both highlighted (in yellow and pink) and underlined in my bible. As I read this, I was struck by the thought, 'what if we prayed this over each other every day? How would that affect our lives and the lives of others?'There are a lot of people who need prayer, myself included. We are in uncertain times and by uncertain I mean politically, financially and personally. I know in my life, there are some things right now that are pretty darn scary and uncertain and they hinge totally on my faith in God. I do know that He has a plan for me and my family and no matter what happens, He will use these situations we are faced with for the best because He loves me and my family that much.
So, back to the passage. If everything in this world is uncertain, I believe that this passage tells us the one thing that is certain. And that is God and His love for us. I believe that He will take care of us and guide us if we let Him dwell in our hearts. So, friends, my prayer for you is this:
I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:16-19)
I pray that you will find hope in this and that you can rest in the certainty of a very big God whose love for us is deeper than anything we could ever imagine.

ReplyDeleteSometimes when I am closing a time of prayer in my cell group, or one of the other groups with whom I pray, I will slip this in with slightly modified pronouns. (ie changing the "you" to "us" etc.)
Great stuff, and something we often just gloss over without thinking about it.

ReplyDeleteThat is a powerful passage. Also, going beyond prayer, we ought to make confession of scripture a daily dose - and this scripture would be one to use regularly. I have it in a collection of verses to say out loud.

ReplyDeleteHe is a Hindu convert has a young family.
Kishen is suffering with throat cancer.
He 's had chemo and is now under going radiation,
because of ulcers in his throat he cannot swallow food.
Do pray for him and hsi family
